Brand creation / Zone 7

Zone 7 is a New Jersey-based, 100% local farm fresh food distributor sourcing only the highest quality ingredients from regional farms 52 weeks a year. Zone 7 has been leading the way in promoting its farms and customers while changing the way people see the local food economy. Together, our goal was to create a brand that reflected Zone 7’s ultimate mission: keep the connection alive between farmer and customer.

The Beet

When Zone 7’s founder, Mikey Azzara, was asked what his spirit vegetable would be, he chose the beet for its hardiness and strong roots that are “connected to this place”. We teamed up with local designer Melissa McFeeters to create a logo and earthy color palette that ended up being the foundation for much of the brand’s visual direction.

We bring the farm

Zone 7 sources from 120+ sustainable farms 52 weeks a year. To help keep customers in touch with what’s being harvested throughout the year we created a seasonal availability calendar. To do this we first had to document an entire year of life on the local farms along with all of the products they grow. Aesthetically, we wanted the photography direction to be minimal and natural just like on the farm. This was a big undertaking but well worth it; the photography ended up being the driving force of the brand.

Staying connected

Part of staying connected meant keeping customers informed and educated about local agriculture and the food they eat. The Zone 7 website features a product database of nearly everything that is offered throughout the year as well as an ever-growing library of educational videos from the farms.
